Horseback Riding Lessons
At Silver Oak Stables, we offer quality horseback riding lessons in Sonoma County tailored to beginning and novice riders of all ages. Our experienced trainers provide personalized instruction in a supportive environment, ensuring that each class is both enjoyable and educational. Discover the joy of riding with us and improve your skills while forming a special bond with our horses.
We believe that the foundation of a successful riding school is built on horsemanship, groundwork, and a comprehensive education on horse health and wellbeing. Our philosophy centers around the holistic care and keeping of horses, ensuring that both horses and humans thrive in a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment.
For riders, returners, and horse lovers who want more than just time in the saddle.
Whether you’ve always dreamed of riding, are coming back to horses after a long break, or just want to feel more confident and connected around them, you’re in the right place.
At Silver Oak Stables, our horsemanship program is designed with adults in mind—those who want a slower, more thoughtful approach to horsemanship. We combine both riding and unmounted instruction to help you understand not just how to work with horses, but why they respond the way they do.
You’ll learn:
How horses communicate through body language
Safe, effective handling and grooming skills
Basics of horse care and behavior
How to ride with confidence, clarity, and kindness
How to build a real connection with the horse you're working with
You don’t need fancy gear or experience—just curiosity, a good pair of boots, and a willingness to learn. Classes are one-on-one, tailored to your pace and goals, and held in a safe, inclusive environment.
We’re LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent friendly, and we believe there’s no “right age” to get into horses.
Not Just for Adults
While our program is geared toward adult amateurs, we offer classes for all ages from young children to teens, especially those who are excited to learn the whole horse picture—not just riding. Young riders in our program also receive a mix of ground and saddle time and are expected to engage in basic horsemanship and care.
