How often is fresh bedding added to stalls?
At least twice a week - some horses are cleaner than others, so it depends. Basic care includes 2 bags of pine pellets and 1 bag of miniflake shavings per week.
-
When are horses fed and turned out/in?
Horses are turned out and fed between 7-9am, and turned in and fed between 5-7pm.
-
What kind of hay do you feed and how much?
We feed your choice of premium orchard grass and/or alfalfa. Horses get up to 20 pounds of hay daily included in basic care (25 with premium care). We can feed more hay for an additional fee. If your horse requires a special diet (low NSC hay like Teff), we can usually accommodate it for an additional fee. We require each horse to have a set of 3 slow feed hay nets, labeled with a name tag.

How often are water buckets cleaned, and how much water do they have access to?
We check buckets daily and clean them as needed. If you want your horses water cleaned more often, you are welcome to talk to the barn manager or do it yourself. Scrub brushes are available to use at each water spigot outdoors and in the wash racks.
Each horse is supplied with a minimum 25 gallon bucket or auto-waterer in their stalls, and 25 gal bucket or large stock tank in paddocks/pastures.
If you want to provide additional water in either stalls or turnout, you will need to supply your own buckets, and you are responsible for keeping them clean and filled.

What are the barn hours?
8am to 9pm
-
How often is the arena dragged?
At least once a week.
-
Is the outdoor arena closed in the winter?
The outdoor arena is all weather, but we will close it during heavy rain to give it time to drain.
-
Are the trails open year round?
The fire road loop trail is open year round, but the rest of the trails are closed during winter.
-
Is lunging, free lunging, or liberty work allowed in the covered arena?
Yes, but we ask that you use common sense, and never let a horse loose in the arena if someone else is already using it. We don't allow owners to chase their horses to make them gallop around out of control - you can ask to use an open paddock to let them get their ya-yas out and play hard. The exception is in winter time if it is too wet to use a large paddock.
